Child & Adolescent Assessment & Treatment

At Serenity Psychology, we assist young people and their families to learn the skills required to face life challenges in spite of anxiety and fear and approach child and adolescent mental health from a developmental‑behavioural perspective.  We believe that the function of all behaviour is to have crucial life needs met. We acknowledge child and adolescent learning, mental health and wellbeing as the foundation to becoming successful contributing adults.  We believe that early intervention is the key to setting young people up for present and future success at home, school and beyond.  If we understand how individuals learn, we know how to teach them to acquire the skills to have all needs met. If we teach our young people to understand what is going on for them, we can guide them towards leading powerful lives filled with meaning, love, kindness, and healthy relationships well into adulthood and beyond.

Serenity Psychology South Perth offers psychological assessment of learning, social and emotional development from kindergarten to year 12, including personality, intelligence, gender, ADHD, Autism, learning difficulties, depression and anxiety-related presentations.  We work with parents and families to identify areas of collective and individual strength and difficulty, in order to support and prepare young people for life’s challenges and to approach them with confidence and understanding of what is happening within and around them. We provide evidence-based psychological intervention to support assessment findings.  We apply a systems approach to help families learn and grow together and understand the developmental, learning and personality differences and similarities within their family, so they can take the learning out into their wider communities and contexts.
